there used to be a small second hand store in my town called "Needful Things"....i drove by it but never stopped....i always wanted to....they had the most interesting things set out and peeking through the windows. i love second hand stores and consignment shops. i like to walk through and examine all the previously owned items, wondering what their stories are and how they managed to end up there. Surely at one time they were once a valued possesion...maybe a special purchase...maybe a gift. i like to watch those On the Road auction show too. They pick out some obscure item that somebody found in their attic and research the value of it. it's amazing how much these old things gathering dust are worth. you look at them and think what a piece of crap until you hear their story. i just love that. people are like that too. My grandmother collects carnival glass. to me it is hideously ugly. all my childhood i hated it. it wasn't until i grew up and started studying glass collectible that i learned about carnival glass and where it originated and what meaning it has for her. in one of the On the Road show one lady described how a certain collectible "sings" for her where others just do not. i guess Carnival glass has alway had a special music for my grandmother. myself , i collect milkglass....the white kind....and yes it sings for me. i can't explain it. i just love the look and simplicity of it.
This board is for those things that ....sing. That need a home. That i want to keep. Old, borrowed, lame, whatever.
